A Note About This Blog

I used to be a writer. Unpublished, but a writer just the same. I have several 100,000 word novels sitting on my hard drive. Then I fell off a horse and got a concussion that scrambled my brains really good (yes, I was wearing a helmet.) After that forming a written sentence was very difficult for quite some time. It's still difficult, but at least now generally the sentence structure isn't egregiously flawed. Verbally and written wrong words pop in, I switch words around, and sometimes I make no sense at all. It isn't because I don't have knowledge of grammar and punctuation, but my brain simply can't do it sometimes. Reading this blog you're accepting that there's going to be things that look like typos or make no sense. It's not because I don't proofread, it's because my damaged brain doesn't see what's wrong. I try my best, but things will slip through. I don't need them pointed out, I know they're there, but if I continued to worry about them I wouldn't write at all. I didn't for quite some time. It's painful as a past master of words to use them so badly, but fortunately the words don't seem to mind.

Lazy, lazy me

I'm having a small problem: I planned to spend December and January huddled in my house, being a hermit. Banana and I both needed vacations. Instead we've had unseasonable warm weather with days in the 40s. I should be out riding every day, taking advantage of this. But, I can't get beyond, "No! I'm not supposed to be riding right now!"

I decided if I'm not going to ride I need to at least do something with Naners every day, even if it's put the halter on and give her a cookie. So, that's what I've been doing. Then yesterday I remembered I could work on that stepping under herself stuff in hand so we're doing that. Now I've added on training her to ground tie. It's such a handy skill for a horse to have. I'm thinking about training her to the same commands the dogs know. It's definitely something I should train Ollie to do.

Speaking of Ollie, I've definitely decided I want to teach him to drive. It will have to wait though, as grad school is eating up my spare cash. Including eating up my competition budget. Good thing I have no plans for this year. So glad I bought a truck and trailer so I can be stuck at home.

A new fox is hanging out. It could possibly be Hunter, but definitely isn't Split Ear.
